Webb, Jo-Anne and Ede, Stephen Sunday and Chohan, Ambreen (2026) A safe system of working through single handed patient positioning. [DataSet]
Description
Patient manual handling is a major contributor to work-related musculoskeletal injury and psychosocial strain in healthcare, leading to sickness absence, compensation claims, and staffing pressures that can affect care quality. Although optimised single-carer techniques (e.g., in-bed sliding systems and unrolling slide sheets for insertion) have been proposed to reduce handling demands, standardised instructions remain limited. This series of videos support single handed care for the following aspects of patient positioning that can be used for teaching, research, clinical training or commercial purposes:
A) Manual turning
B) Turning for slide sheet insertion
C) Unrolling slide sheet insertion
D) Patient turning using flat slide sheets
E) Patient turning using an in-bed sliding system.
