DHWG_Parent_Sample_4458.fits ------------------------- Author: David H.W. Glass, University of Lancashire, 14/10/2025 Description ----------- This catalogue contains 4458 galaxies in the GAMA equatorial regions which form a clean and complete sample according to the following criteria (see the README file for more details): Redshift quality >= 3 r-band apparent Petrosian magnitude (SDSS, from GAMA catalogue TilingCatv46) <= 19.8 r-band absolute Petrosian magnitude <= -17.4 r-band effective radius >= 1.2 arcsec Flow-corrected redshift 0.002 <= z <= 0.06 Galaxies with stronger AGN removed by multiple methods (BPT, WHAN, WISE photometry, 20cm emission) Contents -------- The catalogue contains the following columns: Column Type Label Description ------ ---- ----- ----------- 0 Integer CATAID GAMA identifier (applies to all GAMA catalogues). 1 Double RA Right ascension (J2000, degrees, from GAMA II catalogue TilingCatv46) 2 Double DEC Declination (J2000, degrees, from GAMA II catalogue TilingCatv46) 3 Float Z_HELIO Heliocentric redshift (from GAMA II catalogue DistancesFramesv14). (from GAMA II catalogue DistancesFramesv14) 6 Float M_R_PET r-band absolute Petrosian magnitude (SDSS), calculated from observed SDSS r-band apparent magnitude in GAMA II catalogue TilingCatv46. 7 Double LUMDIST Luminosity distance (Mpc) 8 Integer Morph_Code Visual morphology classification 9 Double F250BEST 250 micron flux density from Herschel-ATLAS catalogue v1.2 (Jy) 10 Double E250BEST Uncertainty for F250BEST (Jy) 11 Double mstar_best log_10(Stellar mass, Msolar) from GAMA II catalogue MagPhysv06 12 Double mstar_err_down negative uncertainty in mstar_best(dex) 13 Double mstar_err_up positive uncertainty in mstar_best (dex) 14 Double SFR_best log_10(Star formation rate, Msolar yr^-1) from GAMA II catalogue MagPhysv06 15 Double SFR_err_down negative uncertainty in SFR_best(dex) 16 Double SFR_err_up positive uncertainty in SFR_best(dex) 17 Double mdust_best log_10(Dust mass, Msolar) from GAMA II catalogue MagPhysv06 18 Double mdust_err_down negative uncertainty in mdust_best(dex) 19 Double mdust_err_up positive uncertainty in mdust_best (dex) The GAMA II visual morphology codes applied are as follows: 0: Not classified (obscured) 1: Elliptical 2: Lenticular 3: Spiral 4: Sd_Irr 5: Little Blue Spheroid (LBS) 6: Edge-on (ellipticity > 0.7, cannot be classified reliably) Visual morphology classifications are taken primarily from the GAMA II catalogue VisualMorphologyv03. Additional galaxies with spiral features within Elliptical, Lenticular and LBS classifications are identified using GAMA_KiDS_GalaxyZoo data and are assigned a Spiral classification. The classifications are not exact, but overall appear to be sufficient to identify galaxies with early-type and late-type features. Other information can be added by cross-matching with relevant GAMA catalogues (http://www.gama-survey.org, under the Data tab) using GAMA identifiers (CATAID) for individual galaxy identification, e.g. using TOPCAT (www.star.bristol.ac.uk/mbt/topcat) or Astropy.Table commands within Python. RA and DEC coordinates (J2000) are provided to allow cross-matching with catalogues from other surveys using sky position.
